One of my goals when I began Camella's Cupboard was Blessing Boxes. I wanted to have a way for families to access food anytime. In Spring 2022, that dream was realized with the help of Boy Scout Alex Rigdon who completed 4 Blessing Boxes for his Eagle Project.
A Blessing Boxes is mini free-standing food pantries that allow families to pick up food discretely 24/7. The boxes also allow donors to put non-perishable items in the box at their convenience.
The idea behind the boxes is "Take What You Need, Leave What You Can."
Blessing Box Locations
New Milford Congregational Church Walnut Hill Church
36 Main Street (front lawn) 19 Dorwin Hill Road (NW Corner of Church)
Hunt Hill Farms/The Silo Odd Fellows Hall
44 Upland Road 25 Danbury Road
Please Avoid:
-NO PERISHABLES
-NO DENTED OR DAMAGED CANS
-NO ITEMS PAST THE USE BY/BEST BY DATE
-NO MEDICATIONS
-NO CLOTHING - other donation services like the New Milford Thrift Shop or Goodwill are better
equipped to handle clothing items.
-Avoid glass jars as they will explode in our box when the weather gets below freezing.
Non-food items like diapers and wipes, feminine hygiene products, and personal hygiene products like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. are great to be placed in the box.
All users of the box do so at their own risk.
